    The 148th Fighter Wing “Bulldogs'' are no strangers to extreme cold. Last week they were able to test their capabilities in Canada and Greenland, proving the ability to operate in a multinational environment with an advanced mission set, to include sub-zero weather conditions.

    On a brisk March day, Hermantown High School senior Joey Gigliotti raised his right hand and took the Oath of Office at the 148th Fighter Wing, Minnesota Air National Guard. The Oath, which is taken by military members to declare their support of the Constitution, was administered by Gigiotti’s aunt, Capt. Mylii Pukema who serves as the Director of Inspections in the 148th Inspector General office.
  • 148th Fighter Wing Airmen feed the troops during Presidential Inauguration

    Prior to January 6th, 2021 eight Services Specialists from the 148th Fighter Wing, Minnesota Air National Guard were already prepared to support the 59th Presidential Inauguration. The Airmen planned to serve up 2,500 National Guard service members daily out of a mobile Single Pallet Expeditionary Kitchen, or SPEK kitchen. SPEK kitchens are utilized during both overseas and domestic operations.
  • Final Battle Damaged F-16 Returns to 148th Fighter Wing

    In May of 2018, a severe windstorm blew through the 407th Air Expeditionary Group, Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base, Kuwait while personnel from the 179th Air Expeditionary Squadron were evacuated to their quarters. 91-mile per hour straight-line winds collapsed sunshades onto seven F-16 fighter aircraft assigned to the 148th Fighter Wing, Minnesota Air National Guard. The 148th had deployed 333 personnel plus twelve F-16s in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. Five of those F-16s sustained catastrophic damage.

    We’ve all heard the phrase “the Guard is a family”.  For Tech. Sgt. Kristianna Konietzko, a Training Technician in the Force Development Office, the phrase is quite literal.  Kristianna Konietzko, a Cloquet High School graduate, is the third-generation of her family to serve at the 148th Fighter Wing, Minnesota Air National Guard in Duluth, Minn.

  • 148th Security Forces Wrap Up Field Training at Camp Ripley

    Three-dozen Security Forces specialists from the 148th Fighter Wing recently completed a 10-day field training txercise at Camp Ripley Training Center, Minnesota.  “Exercises like this prepare airmen for any mission around the world,” said Chief Master Sgt.   • Training and Collaboration Develops Exceptional EOD Airmen

    Explosive Ordnance Technicians from the 148th Fighter Wing, Minnesota Air National Guard, 166th Airlift Wing, Delaware Air National Guard and the 177th Fighter Wing, New Jersey Air National Guard gathered at Camp Ripley Training Center, Minnesota, July 20-24, for a field training exercise featuring advanced marksmanship techniques, technical intelligence field analysis, counter improvised explosive object training (C-IED), demolition techniques and area clearance tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs).
  • Last F-4D Flight at 148th Fighter Wing 30-years Ago Today

    April 17, 1990 marked the last flight of a special F-4D at the 148th Fighter Wing, a Duluth-based Minnesota Air National Guard unit.  An F-4D bearing the tail number 608 flew for one last time then landed to stay in Duluth.
