Bulldogs Lead the Christmas City of the North Parade Published Nov. 22, 2009 By Staff Sgt. Scott Herrington 148FW/PA DULUTH, Minn. -- The 148th Fighter Wing was represented by over one hundred members in Duluth's 51st Christmas City of the North Parade On November 20, 2009. The 148th Fighter Wing Honor Guard led the parade carrying the American Flag. Both officers and enlisted, traditional, full time members of the wing numbered among the marchers as they made their way through downtown Duluth. They assembled in front of the Great Lakes Aquarium and ended at 5th Avenue West. Senior Master Sergeant Lynn Brophy has been marching in the parade for the past 15 years, helping to provide the much needed rhythm with her drum. The crowds have responded with a definite increase in enthusiasm since 9/11, and this year was no different. "The cheers from the crowd let you know that people in the community support and believe in us," said Brophy. "It tells me I'm in the right profession, doing the right thing." Her most special moment was saluting a young girl who had her hand over her heart. "She didn't break the salute, she just grinned ear to ear, knowing that I saw and acknowledged her."
