NGB Command Chief Master Sgt. Denise Jelinski-Hall visits the 148th Fighter Wing

DULUTH, Minn. -- Command Chief Master Sgt. Denise Jelinski-Hall of the National Guard Bureau hosted an Airmans Call at the 148th Fighter Wing (FW) in Duluth, Minn. on Nov. 19, 2010. Despite having spent 19 years in Hawaii, the former Minnesota native braved the chilly November weather to take a tour of the base and talk to Wing members.

Upon arrival, she was welcomed at the 148 FW's Operations Building by the Wing Commander Col. Frank Stokes, Command Chief Michael Layman, Operations Group Commander Col. Gerald Ostern and other members of the unit. Chief Master Sgt. Jelinski-Hall was given a tour of Life Support, Weapons Loading and the Aircraft Maintenance Building. Along the way she asked the youngest members in each section to describe the different aspects of their jobs. While in each shop she made sure to talk about our responsibilities to our fellow wingmen when it comes to sexual assault prevention and suicide prevention.

Her visit to the base wrapped up with an open discussion in which more than 100 Airmen of varying ranks of the 148 FW took part. She again reiterated the importance we all have to preventing suicides and sexual assaults. Family programs were also a big topic as she asked the attendees to make sure to nominate their civilian employers for a "My Boss is a Patriot Award" through the Employer Support section of the Guard and Reserve website. She emphasized that not only are our family members and loved ones together in supporting the military but that our civilian employers also play a significant role.

After taking a few questions from the audience, Chief Master Sgt. Jelinski-Hall went to the 148 FW's Great Lakes Inn for lunch where she enjoyed the company of other guardsmen and the welcoming committee. When finished she said her goodbyes and was escorted out to a UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter to depart.
